My version of the "Nasty Little Beast" (As I call it) is Evolving.
Just had to try one of these Bad Boy designs of the Beck style blade. This one climbed the tree in my front yard, all by it's self :D
I have another version that is in the HT oven as we speak, No saw teeth, nasty nasty double edge with a more Radical Hook in the primary edge. Will post a pic when it is done tomorrow.
Yes I know this is not my design but it really grew on me after I saw the movie. Beck makes a great blade and I consider it a premier survival tool, just can't afford to buy my own.
Stripes are not shadows they are part of the finish.
Ken now has this one and I'm sure it will get a good home.
Enjoy!

I really like it, Robert. By the way, don't you mean the Beck Wilderness Survival Knife? ;) That is the new name he gave his knife because of the problems with Tom Brown Jr..

That one you are going to show us tomorrow sounds very interesting indeed.

Very nice work Mr.Hankins, I am very interested in seeing the next post as well. I really need to get one of your pieces in my collection :)

Maybe that thing will climb into your mailbox and mail itself to me!

Here nasty one, c'mere boy, come to Burchie!! :D

Real nice work there. Is that black G10 on the handle? Looks really nice. If it is G10, how is it finished? Turned out with a different look to it the few times I used it.

Hey thanks guys:D

Matt,
Actually that is Linen Micarta treated with a permanent black dye and a shot of light oil. Turns it a Midnight Black but doesn't effect the grip at all!

Robert, I've been telling people that you CAN change the colour of Micarta and I get all sorts of weird looks. Next time, I'll direct them to you. I've been using a variety of dyes - brown, black, red, blue etc. to get the best colours, contrasts from all sorts of things- yes, including Micartas and stabilised woods.

Still trying to figure out the finish - ? ferric chloride etched with a resist ? - it looks THE PART !!

I'm not a fan of saw teeth but, that one is very well done indeed.

Can you give us more specs - ? steel, thickness, actual sizes ?

Cheers. Jason.

Straight from the fires of "Heck"

This is the "Nasty Little Beast" Big brother.
Specs: 1/4" 5160
11 7/8" OAL
G10 Scales
If you are a fan of a 2 1/2" wide wound channel this might do the trick. Easy going in and rips up everything on the way out:eek: YUK!

I'm with Keith on this one. I like the second one a lot more. Good job! That CANNOT be fun to grind.
