Most of you forumites are familiar with Nathan Carothers. But his new product, the Light Chopper, is out in only VERY limited production. That's maybe less than 10, I suppose?

In any case, I grabbed up the last of his HEAVY chopper prototypes, a form which is a precursor to the Light Chopper. The Heavy Chopper was limited to eight prototypes and, as Nathan has said, will not be a production model, only a dynamic example of the Light Chopper. But many have not or will not have the opportunity to compare the size of this baby with something of Nathan's that's more familiar, his Shiv.

So here are just a couple of images comparing the relative size between the Heavy Chopper and the Shiv. Remember, the Light Chopper is slightly smaller than the Heavy. I thought this might be something of interest, since there are so many out there who own Nathan's Shivs, or other pieces.

Pretty sure only 3 Heavy Choppers were released to the wild and 8 total made. The rest were testing and/or destroyed.

Hello!

Congratulations on a mighty fine piece! I have loved Nathan's work for some while now as well! Can't go wrong with his pieces! Other than Dudley, I think you, Bob, are the one collector I deem to own most of Nathan's pieces? ;)

I have no idea, how many of the heavy choppers actually survived Nathan's boot-camp and swiss-watch-maker-like-inspections, but I was lucky enough to grab one as well.

All the best,
Alex

Both knives are superb, on many levels.
I prefer the Boot/Camp.

Hey Dudley-

Nathan matched the Westinghouse micarta in the integral dagger I have with material from the same piece of Westinghouse, for my field knife. You and I know, probably more than most, what perfection and precision mean, because we have those two daggers. I have never found ANYTHING that is less than 100% perfect on the dagger. You and I really lucked out on those daggers.

Oops, off topic, sorry. But then again, it does speak to that "sheer perfection of execution".
