National Knife Day

Great day to celebrate - the Buck Knives I've owned the longest. OH

Happy National Knife Day, Porchsters!:thumbsup::cool:

To celebrate, I'm thinking of my first pocketknife, from about 1960, which I still have.
Here's the first photo I ever took of the knife, 11 years ago, soon after I joined Blade Forums.
The knife is a much better knife than I am a photographer! o_O

Here's a more recent, and better quality, photo of the knife:

The knife pose looks familiar, but your photo is WAY better! 🤓:thumbsup:
Is that a Kamp King from Rough Ryder? Does it have bone covers?
I have a RR scout knife, but not their Kamp King model.

I do have an Imperial Kamp-King with synthetic covers that I bought in an antique store as a "substitute" for my Colonial Forest-Master. I was worried that, after all these years, I might lose the Forest-Master if I carried it. I like the Imperial very much, but I decided I'd keep carrying my good old first scout knife whenever it came up in my rotation schedule. The joy of carrying it outweighed the risk of losing it for me.

Isn't every day "knife day" ?!? 😳

Should I change the stockman for something fancy, and maybe put my 'Year Of The Ox' Huntsman in for the holiday? 😵‍💫
Nah, no change needed. Your pic is just about perfect. I simply posted my most recent knife, which I got last week and I'm still excited about and didn't even get to use yet. I wish I would have thought about posting something more sentimental, like you and 5K Qs. I do have a Toferner like yours, which my wife gave me for Christmas. Although not the best pics as far as composition goes, here's a pic of two of my knives from my childhood and one of my grandfather's that he brought back from serving in WW1 (I think from France).IMG_0822.JPGIMG_1687.JPG

My first (and only) knife made by yours truly!! The handle is a Blacktail Deer tine from Vancouver Island, and the blade is from a large, broken felling saw!!
I did not continue making knives, but that experience revved up my collecting propensities!!
Happy National Knife Day to all!!
