This isnt my first post, but I am going to act like it is for the sake of introducing myself and my business.
My name is Robert (Rob) Glowacki. I am happily married to my wife, Ruth and have a daughter, Kita. We currently live in Michigans Upper Peninsula after relocating from downstate for a job offer my wife received and accepted. Our daughter is a junior in high school and ..... wait for it.....is carrying a high 3.XX 4.00 GPA (thats bragging rights can you tell I am proud).
After several years of contemplating, I started National Knives in 2005. I didn't put much effort into it as I had worked full time in retail management and when I got home, I was more interested in spending time with my family (darned priorities). When my wife accepted her job offer, I quit my job (and I would be lying if I told you that I didnt miss it sometimes), packed up and headed north. My wife and I decided that this would be the perfect opportunity for me to grow National Knives. I cant compete or compare to the big boys they have earned their patronage over years of great service and being able to offer a great selection. I hope to get there someday.
What does my knife collection/drawer consist of? Well, you think it would be substantial with all kinds of exotics, limteds/Sprints, etc., its not. I carry a beat up Spyderco Native C41PSBBK with a broken tip (you think I would know better than to use it for cleaning out a paper shredder.......). The two knives that I just could not let go of that were meant to be sold are the Spyderco Kumo FB11P and the Spyderco Phoenix C114WMP. I also own a Bob Dozier KM-12 and a William Henry Quarterly Edition B12 Spearpoint (serial number 030604) from 2006. The WH is my wifes . I also have a drawer full of misc. knives collected over the years, some Bucks, Gerbers, Leathermans, Schrades, some old baynets, etc.
I will most likely be adding a Caly 3.5 Sprint Gray G-10/Aogami Super Blue C144GPGY, a Gayle Bradley C134CFP and a Bushcraft FB26GP to my users list. The Caly 3.5 w/Super Blue has really enticed me after reading reviews from owners/users of these on Bladeforums.com and elsewhere. The Gayle Bradley and the Bushcraft feel too good in my hand to put down and I hate when I sell my last one out of fear that I might not be able to get a replacement.
As you probably have guessed, Spyderco is one of my favorite brands, but I truly dont have one favorite. I focused on Spyderco to grow my business as their fan base seems to be about the largest, if not THE largest out there. As my business grows, so will the width and depth of my inventory. I have started to carry some Kershaw/Zero Tolerance and some TOPS products. My website (www.NationalKnives.com) is a work in progress. I have done most of the work myself (I bet you couldnt tell.....). The logo I had paid to have done years ago, and was designed around what my website looked like back then (black and gray). Most of the pictures are stock photos used with permission. The bridge photo, is that of the Mackinaw Bridge that links Michigans Lower and Upper, I shot that photo several years ago while on vacation.
Most of my inventory is listed on both www.NationalKnives.com and eBay. The inventories are synced, but not at the same price. For those that are interested, my eBay username is Robbob8 and my eBay store name is nationalknivesdotcom.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please dont hesitate to contact me at Sales@NationalKnives.com. I know many of you would prefer to speak by phone, in time this is going to happen, but currently is not the best way for me to communicate for no other reason than I am a one man show and the time consumed during a phone call severely limits my ability to get other tasks completed plus I dont currently have regular hours, though 5 7 AM to 8 10 PM Eastern is a reasonable estimate.
Thank you very much for your time.
Rob
