A lot of folks liked the back lock Manix and that got me to thinking. What about a Native 5 3.5. If they did not make it wider but stretched it out (like they did with the Caly 3.5) I think that would be a great knife to have. I would certainly buy one or two. I would want it to have S35VN steel.

What do you folks think?

Sounds good,I really like the native 5 and I prefer s35vn to s110v. I would like to have a 3.5" blade, though the current less than 3" blade seems to get the job done.

I've been asking for this, or at least wanting it, since I first joined.

A native elongated so that I can get a full comfortable grip on the main area without having to use the choil would be the perfect knife.

There was a native inspired knife with a longer blade a long time ago, but I forget the name. Chief I think, maybe Rogue.

There is a Native 3.5 prototype. I have seen it, held it and even fondled it a little. It is called the Shaman and it has a compression lock, not a back lock. The prototype was very nice and actually had contoured G10 scales. I expect it to be popular. I am gonna need one for sure.

The Shaman and Chief are gonna be awesome. The Native is always one I regret letting go, and consider buying again about once a day. The bigger versions are gonna turn that consideration into buyeration.

Anyone have an eta on the shaman? I'd buy one in s110v in a heartbeat.

I will just say, I hope you are patient. :) It is just a prototype and there are a ton of models in the works for this year. I would guess that it will be a while and that the S110v model will come a while after that. There is no way to know what Spyderco has planned but I don't expect it this year. Golden still has to pump out a bunch of other S110V models.

A model with the compression lock would be pretty nice. I actually hope for one that is exactly like the current Native 5 S35VN but a bit longer. The handle is too short on the current model.

It is pretty much just a longer Native. I cannot remeber exactly how wide it was. Maybe a little wider but it gave the overall impression of being a longer Native. I could easily hold it in the rear grip without the choil and I also have a hard time doing that with the Native5.

Yes, please! C'Mon Sal, we need a Native 5 XL!

I would love a native 5 3.5. The reason I sold my native 5 was because it never really fit my hand well and I have medium size hands.

This would be really interesting to me, as I really like the concept of the Native, but the usable edge is just a tad short for my purposes.

Sounds like my dream knife.
