A great blog, Everyday Commentary, has a review of the Native 5 posted today. In the review the author states, "The Native 4 is still being made, oddly enough, . . . Additionally, the Native 5's lines are significantly different from those of the Native 4, but are virtually identical to those of the sprint run Native 4 with CF scales."
I don't think this is correct. Spyderco's website shows the Native 4 as discontinued. As I recall all Native 4s had CF scales. Mine does. When this information was pointed out the author responded, "Only one version of the native 4 has cf scales and it is very rare. The native 4 is still being sold through spyderco and is still in the print catalog though I think it is no longer being made." The author did correct the blog entry to reflect the EDCF version as being a 5, not a 4.
So, my questions are:
1. Was the Native 4 ever offered in a variation without CF? If so, was the CF version rare?
2. Please confirm the Native 4 is out of production.
3. Is the Native 4 in the 2013 print catalog? (I'm at work, my catalog is at home.)
Thanks.
