I recieved my first Spyderco Native 5 G10 in a trade (used) and I loved it. The girlfriend did to and she wanted one. So I traded for a bnib one. I was making scales for them using the first one. I then put the finished scales on the new one and realized that something was not right. I know my work is superb so I started comparing the two knives. I checked both when I first got them for the manufacture date on the inside of the blade and they both have it. I know they are both true Spydercos and neither is a second. No cut notches. The difference is the bottom edge of the liner/scale. Neither look to be modified. So please help me figure out how two native 5 g10 from the factory are different. Please post pics of yours if you have them for added comparison. So here are

One possibility would be that the the final grind/polish/finish of the knife handle is done with the knife assembled to ensure a seamless finish between the scale, liner and backspacer. This could account for variations from knife to knife. That's my uneducated guess.

Possibly design was changed slightly. My EDC Native has liners shown on the bottom, there is Radius on the corner. I also have couple more N5 home, I will check out, when I will get there. One of them belongs to the very first batch and another was made just recently.

Just check both my other Native5, which are home. All three of mine have the same style of liners, none of them two on the top. May be this is after market modification.

Well the bottom left is different from the bottom right.

It doesn't look to be modded because the machining on the liner looks uniform and also the g10 scale also seems to be uniform.
