I got my Native 5 the other day.
The knife feels solid, very, very sharp, and looks cool.

But,
The knife has play when closed. No, it doesnt touch the liners, but it clicks back and forth with minor effort.
But not when open.
Is this something related to backlocks? (I don't really have any other than a 110)

Yeah, I know it's a minor issue that obviously doesnt affect performance, but this knife wasn't cheap, and it bugs me.

PS for Seelow123:
This is my only issue. It is slightly ground unevenly, but not to the point of being called an issue.
Feels solid, no play when open, and is by far the sharpest OOB knife I've ever held.
Ergonomic, and no hot spots. :D

Check the pivot screw, it may be loose. Be sure to use the correct torx driver.

Glad you gt the knife and enjoy it somewhat. The knife has a Pivot bushing so you should be able to tighten it all the way down without it getting too tight. Is it centered when closed? (I mean after you close it, without moving the blade) I think I remember having this problem with a different knife but Can't remember what it was. I would try calling Spyderco about it (Call rather than email. It take them awhile to get back via email) and see what they have to say. That sucks that your first Golden Spydie has a problem.

Also: Whenever I get some new stones for my EP, I'd be happy to reprofile that bad boy for you:)

As i see it there could be 3 major reasons for that happening depending on what it is you may or may not be able to fix it yourself.
1) the liners are not paralel- look and see if they get closer when aproaching the blade tang/pivot area.
If this is the case try working out the play by adjusting the pivot AND THE FIRST SCREW BACK AND UP OF THE PIVOT.
2)Look and see if the washers line up and if there is space betwen them and the liners on any side when closed-look against some light source.(they should center the pivot and fall perfectly flat on the blade and liners all the way around...check it in open/closed and motion) I had this problem on another folder. The interior diameter of the washers should be slightly biger then the pivot bushing alowing adjustment of the washers position to center the blade.
THE WASHERS SHOULD CENTER THE PIVOT WHEN LOOKED AT FRONT CLOSED AND SIDE CLOSED.If both fall to in front this might be the problem.
3) the blade tang or area around the pivot isn't perfectly flat and/or paralel-possible grinding error.

Other reasons:excentric pivot or pivot boshing...slim chance though. Spidyes usualy use quality materials.
I'bet it's a fitting problem...
But...when in doubt...best to call them.
God luck solving it fast and enjoy ur new spydie.
