First I'll say I have no first hand experience swapping scales on a Native 5. That said, I have seen a couple 110V bladed fluted titanium Native 5s pictured here and the Spyderco forum. The fluted titanium Native has only been offered with an S30V blade so these are clearly blade swaps. My only concern with doing such a project has to do with the nature of a lock back. On most lock back knives the lock bar is fitted to the individual knife and sanded flush along the spine side of the handle. The Native IS a little different in that it has jimping machined into the top of the lock bar where it meets the blade. I beleive this was so Spyderco could forgo much if not all of the fitting mentioned above and have more of a drop in fit lock bar. So to answer your question; yes it can be done but it may or may not cause lock rock, or an otherwise improper fitting lock bar. I think your chances of success is far greater with the Native 5 model than say a Delica 4 for example, due to the improvements made in the Natives construction.
