Native 5... Why no Boye Dent?

I just got a native 5 and I really like this knife. It is definitely going to find its way into my edc rotation, but there is one thing I am wondering about...

Why is there no Boye Dent? Although it does not make that much of a difference, I really enjoy this feature on my other Spyderco backlocks. It makes it easier to find and depress the lock.

I saw that the prototype had a Boye dent on it, so why did spyderco decide to not have it one the Native 5?

Thanks

I just got mine today and I know why there isn't one. If there was you wouldn't be able to disengage the lock all the way. Mine doesn't disengage until the center of the lock bar is 3/32" ish from the scales.

If you really miss it, it couldn't be too hard to add one, provided you had the tools and a bit of skill. If you were patient, you could even do it with a file. But you have to be sure that you'll still be able to disengage the lock easily.

I read that Sal said they didn't need it as they shrunk the lock?

While I don't consider the Boye dent to be a bad feature, I don't like it when it's cut too deep to allow for a full release of the lock. The Persian 2 is one such knife I returned for this reason.

On the other hand, it does help you find the release quickly and probably does help prevent accidental release during a high stress situation. The tactical feature is just not something I worry about when selecting a folder.
