Believe me, no-one in my family or circle of friends has even the slightest clue as to how to build one. Sad but true.
May I ask if you have native American roots?
Stefan
There are still quite a few bark canoe builders here in Canada. The Commanda family has been building canoes since the 19th century, they are Algonquins, mainly from Quebec. There is also Henri Vaillancourt in the US who studied under the Commanda family and many more Canadian First Nations builders. Here is his site. He makes wonderful canoes.
