native american knife maker?

I have a knife i got at a gun & knife show i belive is native american. i have been trying to fine out who [tribe] made it. It is wraped with gut & pitch to hold the dark blade in place. It also has designs carved in the handle that may belong to a tribe. Thanks for any help. ANDY
