My loving wife is buying this knife for my upcoming birthday unless I change my mind.

I've read a bunch about the fantastic cutting ability of the serrated H1 steel models, but I absolutely LOVE the appearance of the black bladed Native (I think the best "looking" knife ever). I'd imagine I'll be perfectly happy with this knife for general daily use, no? Cutting up boxes, whittling up some fireplace kindling, etc....

Really just want a good user knife with serrations, my new PM2 will be my no-serration user.......I'll keep my P'Kal and Manix 2 XL in pristine condition for the never will happen SD situation.

Couldn't find much info on the fully serrated CPM S30V, thoughts?

Great knife, great EDC. I had one for a while and the S30V was a good fit for the serrations IMHO. I like the 1cm or so of PE blade near the tip as well.

Should point out it's being discontinued, so pick up a few now.

Great knife...enjoy it. I have the satin finish PE version and it shrugged off a 275 foot fall onto gravel (Closed fortunately), and it's absolutely fine...I still carry it now and again the better part of a decade later.

I had and encounter with one that I still kick myself over 6 months later...I made an unplanned stop by House of Blades in Fort Worth one afternoon last summer (I can't remember when exactly) and they happened to be having a major clearance sale. I wasn't looking for anything, I just stopped in because I was coming back from meeting a client and I really don't venture out to those parts much (it's about 15 miles NW of FW by the NAS); anyway, one a table I found that exact knife, the fully serrated Native FRN in full SE S30V for ...drum roll...$40!

Did I buy it? ... No...

I noticed it and asked one of the staff to make sure the price was correct on the box, he confirmed it and said what a great buy it was (the only one they had), I was going to buy it and was carrying it around the store browsing other things...I placed it down when I got a phone call I had to take and ended up stepping outside to talk (I wasn't going to take the box with me obviously) and ended up forgetting all about the knife...I remembered about 3 hours later back in the office but had more pressing responsibilities to attend to so I never got it...someone got a great buy but sadly not me!

Anyway, if you can, buy it, its a really nice knife and I'm sure the SE S30V cuts like a chainsaw.

I hardly use my Native 5 LW anymore since getting the black SE.

It rips through boxes and the .5" PE at the tip is good for tape and envelopes. But it's not a 'whittler' - too much bite from all those teeth.

Technically speaking, Spyderco never offered a "fully serrated" C41 Native Lightweight. They were always called "part serrated", "combo edge", 70/30 serrated", or "65/35 serrated".

Ok, not technically fully serrated, but it will be here Thursday!

And.....by "whittling" I actually meant roughly/quickly making big sticks into littler sticks for kindling....sounds like this one will excel at my needs.

Oh, and my new black on black PM2 is at the local post office, Christmas continues!
