When will this happen? It must happen. All of you distributors out there: BladeHQ, KnifeWorks, KnifeCenter, Bento Box, DLT Trading , etc., I know you all like fat profits with little downside. This is it! It's a home run. You will sell out so hard it will break your websites (in a good way). C'mon! Let's make it happen!

Most newer knives will have to stick with S30V, until they can prove adequate sales numbers to warrant a higher-end steel. This won't happen quick.

Not if a Dealer or Distributor commissions an exclusive. If they place the order and put up the money, the only delay is the production schedule(s).

I'd go for Cruwear, K390 or LC200N in a Chief. Less interested in m390.

If an m390 sprint or exclusive, through sheer popularity and demand primed the pump for some of those other steels, that'd be cool.

Maybe Spyderco can rethink about it. If a new model with s30v does not sell well, it may do so if the steel is changed to something like M390. :)

I agree. The back lock Manix 2 was a good example. I really wanted one of those but I wanted it in something other than s30v and black g10 so I waited. They never did a sprint because it didn’t sell well and now it’s discontinued. I believe many here would have bought one had they released it in cruwear or m4.

May be true, I believe they're targeting more than the hardcore crowd with their releases, hence the reluctance from premium steels.

S30V’s great but my drawer is overflowing with it and for me it’s grown tired. Time to welcome in the new best thing IMO. I’m actually holding off from buying models because they are in S30V.

Right, but had they done an intro run in 20cv or m390 the hardcore crowd would have made up for the sales lost due to lack of interest from the “everyday joe” crowd.

What would be the retail price? $171 am I correct?

That’s the selling price, retail is $245.00
I just hope they don’t sell out as fast as the Shaman or Para 2 sprint runs. If that’s the case, I’ll never own one because I refuse to support lowlife flippers.

You mean MSRP is $245, right? I love Rex 45 but it would be crazy for Spyderco to set the MAP of a Rex45 burnt orange Chief to $245. Military of the same materials was less than $190.
