Native Clip design: is it supposed to flare?

I just got a $40 native from Wal-Mart today for Christmas. It's so sharp with S30V!

However, when I really started looking at all the nooks and crannies, I noticed that the clip curves up at the end away from the handle (i.e., the very end of the clip is higher off the handle than the part with the spyder stamp). Does anyone elses do this? Is it defective, or was it designed like that to make clipping thick material easier. My other Spyderco clips don't curve up this way. Any feedback woud be appreciated.

Me too, this knife rocks. (why did I not buy one sooner?)

To answer your questions, yes and probably yes in that order.

I'm so happy it dosen't destroy my pocket as quickly as my scallion.

Yeah, I think it's just to help get the knife into your pocket.

The clip looks kina like this right?:

Thanks for the replies. I feel better now that it's probably made that way, but it's too late. Last night, I took off the clip and bent it down so that the clip end didn't flare up as much so now it looks like this.

It feels much better now in my pocket since I never use the clip except to stabilize the knife while opening it.

I compared the clip on my Native to my Endura clip. There is not a difference that I can see.

I wish the Native clip didn't allow so much of the handle to stick out.:grumpy: It is a great knife otherwise.

Clip?, get in contact with Spyderco and see if you can get a UK Pen knife wire clip. Put it on your 40.00 Native and then only ~1/4" of the handle will stick out of your pocket. You will have to flair it some but it will be lower ride for sure!
