Just got my BF Native this week (plus sheath) and had a question about the edge grind.
Unlike all my other Spydies, the plain-edged portion of my PS native wasn't shaving sharp out of the box...couldn't even push it thru paper. The serrations were sharp as usual (ie, easy to push the serration thru paper)...not so with the plain edge.
I noticed that the edge bevel which is usually quite pronounced (maybe about 1/32"?)on both sides of the plain-edge on my other Spydies, is only evident on the left side of my Native (the side on which the serrations are ground).
The right side appears to just taper to the spear-point blade bevel and has no edge bevel. So my question is whether this is by design, or should I add the edge bevel to the left side of the plain-edge?
Any of you other Native owners have a problem with plain-edged dullness out of the box?
I also bought my 2nd Wegner Jr last week...a combo-edge and the hollow ground blade is edge-beveled on both sides of the plain-edge(just like my Delica) and performs like I've come to expect of all my Spydies.
