I hate to nag Sal but you did tell us we would be able to buy a plain edge version of the Native II "soon" or "this year" or something, I forget. I'm starting to think about what knife for which people for Christmas. I had a couple people last year who would have been perfect for this knife but I wasn't giving somebody a small to medium partly serrated knife. It's against my religion or something.

I may even have to get one for myself. In my small pile of Spydies I don't have even one of the stainless steel handle models. This knife might actually get three to four sales just to me. Will we be able to buy them (and have them actually delivered) before Christmas?

Thank you!

If your refering to the Native with a 440V blade, there heeere! I just got back an hour ago from picking one up along with a Lg. pl. edge Calypso in VG10. Both are realllly sweet knives.
The Native is as solid an FRN knife as I've ever handled. And the edge is one of the sharpest I've ever gotten out of the box. I know I said this yesterday in the Reviews Forum about a Kershaw Avalanche that I picked up, but hey, new day, new knife!

Tulsamal - In case the Native II doesn't make it in plain edge by Christmas, you can send me the current spyderedge version for Christmas. I just hate to see someone's Christmas ruined!

No, Misque, the Native II is a different knife. I _am_ interesting in getting one of the new Native's in 440v since I like my BF Native so much. But the Native II is a stainless handled knife with an AUS10 blade. It is made in Japan. It is currently only partly serrated. I was interested in getting some people a stainless handled knife as a gift. Plastic handles don't have the "I got you something special feel" even if they are very practical.

Oh...
Sorry about the confusion tulsamal.
Oddly enough, I have that SS Native II, and I agree with you. It needs to be in a plain edge format. Big time!
Like the whole Native series, it ROCKS! It would just be so much better in pl. edge format.
Oh, BTW, I think this model made the transition to Stainless Steel handles really well. A lot of SS handles feel, shall we say, too flat and somewhat less than substantial. BUT, the Native in SS feels good in the hand and doesn't feel too small or flat. It fills the hand in all the right places.
If only it had a plain edge.

I handled one of the SS Natives today. I thought the edges on the handle were to sharp, particularly the tip of the finger groove. I wish they would make this model with a smooth burgundy micarta handle.

As much as I like the zytel Native, I like the Native II better. The handles are more comfortable to me, probably because they are thinner. The Native design translates well into stainless. Most stainless handled knives are "slick" but the design of the Native allows for a secure grip. I would love to see a plainedge version.
