Saw it on sale on a well-known website. For about $30, I figured it was a real bargain.

I was more correct than I suspected! Great knife for chores around the house. FRN handle is thick and substantial, good grip outdoors and around the house. This is my first Spydie with the wire clip, and now I see why everyone raves about it. VG-10 is great steel, easy to sharpen to a razor edge when needed, as this baby arrived ready to shave.

Only drawback is that it's pinned together, so I can't disassemble to clean. But for $30 I'll wash it consistently and clean it as best as I can.

One thing about the fit and finish: The tolerances were so good that I had a hard time being able to see where the metal liners inside the handle ended and the FRN began, even with shining a flashlight inside the handle. Great job by Spyderco to make such a fine knife at an affordable price.

I have never had a real problem with a Spyderco knife. I've had:
Delica 4
Ladybug
Navigator in SS
and now, the Native III

And these aren't even the higher end Spydies, yet they've all been solid in their quality and function. No wonder people are willing to plunk down over $100 to get a Military or a Caly 3. There are also other good companies out there, of course. But I'm always drawn back to Spyderco to check for sales.

:confused::confused:

I know you can't deal spot but can u please tell me where u can get a $30 Native? I think it's ok if you don't link it in a post. but you can share the website. Thanks

I believe the site is knivecenteroftheinternet. I picked one up there two weeks ago for 30 bucks, but they only had partially (mostly) serated version available. hope this helps.

They're all gone now.

I picked up a plain edge while they were in stock. Excellent knife, except the backspring is really stiff. That lockup makes the knife feel like a TANK.

That's the one. Not sure they have any left, but you can look.

Put a small drop of Militec where the backspring meets the blade. Work it in and then put the knife in your pocket to "warm it" for awhile. Mine waas very stiff until I did that. Now it's smooth as ice, but not too easy.

When the lock engages, it makes a very reassuring SNAP! Buddy of mine opened it and said, "Whoa". Yeah, it's a tank.
