I can't decide which one...

Anyone own both?

The VG10 seems to have a deeper choil ?

The S30V has a standard clip rather than a wire one.

I guess the easy route would be to buy both and call it a day.

The Native III only comes in VG10. The original Native comes in S30V. The Native III supposedly fills the hand better, while the original is flat like a Delica. Good luck!

I have (had) both. The III's were out when I got the s30v (pe); mostly for the prestige I think. Had some persnickety concerns, sent it to Spyderco, they kept it and sent me back an se replacement. Working with them to get a s30v pe back or work out something else. BECAUSE, while I was waiting for the s30v to get back, I bought a III VG-10. I like the VG-10 better than both (pe, se) s30v's because it's a stronger closer, something I really need. Still want my or a s30v pe back, tho: like I said, a guy's gotta get his prestige somehow.

I have both....they are both great knives. I carry the S30v more, just out of personal preference on the handles. I find the S30V Native more comfortable in my hands, and thinner in the pocket. The point on the handle that creates the choil on the III is a bit 'sharp' for long term cutting - with my hands.

Both are great cutters, and the steels are so comparable that I don't consider that an issue.

Thanks for the clarification and the advice. I'm a FNG to Spyderco. I have only bought 3 so far Mili, ParaMili(should be in my hands soon), and Centofante III.
