Does anyone have a Native III with a spring so tight you cannot "one hand" it open? Just got one yesterday, love the knife, it's great in every other way.
I have had many other Spydercos and have never had any problems opening them.
Has anyone had any experience with Spyderco's warranty department?

Yes, mine came pretty tight also. I put a little 3-in-1 oil on the pivot points and worked it in for a while. It has loosened up quite a bit but is still harder to open with the thumbhole than my Delica. If by "one hand" opening you mean flicking, I don't think it's there yet.

One of these days I intend to get some Militec or other wonderlube and go at it again. I do love the knife. Good luck.

I also just got a new Native III. Mine is also almost too tight to open as well. I haven't done anything to it yet, as its not the knife I carry for "primary" anything.

I do recommend against 3-in-1 oil as a pivot lube though. I've found that it attracts lint/dirt and gums up my otherwise pristine knives. I use it regularly to clean/protect my blades though.

Lubes I recommend:
Militec-1, White Lightning, and Tough Glide, in that order. You can get a small bottle of Militec-1 for under $5. Also folks, for those of you who don;t know or are shy...

You can get many standard knife lubes/polishes/accessories at your local gun shop. Both knives and guns use steel, after all.

Cheers

Just a suggestion: Try the Spyderco Forum.

Yea, you should deffinately go there and post about this. The Native III is a brand new knife and they (Spyderco) will want to know about any problems or complaints you have.

what do you mean by "one hand" opening? holding the handle and flicking out the blade? on my SS Native II, i hold the hole and flick backward to have the handle come into my hand, it works pretty well, maybe it was designed that way..

Just keep oiling and working it open and closed. It will loosen up.
