Or am I just too late on the scene?

...edited 5 minutes later to add that I'm an idiot... I looked all over the place to find one... outlet, etc, and couldn't find it anywhere, so I thought it was a limited run type thing, and I'd missed it... sorry

Lothar, king of the Hill People,

You're not an idiot. This is a very dynamic field for collectible useables and there's a VG-10 Native coming out soon, too. Luckily, the S30V Native precludes the need for other such knives. Unluckily, VG-10 is super-sweet and the "3D" handle sounds really cool.

The steels themselves or the handles on the Natives? I can answer the steel part:

If you have to do major edge reprofiling (such as changing a 40 degree angle to a 30 degree angle), S30V reprofiles quicker. Both steels take and hold a really keen edge, but the VG-10 always feels sharper.

I have no data or which is more chip resistant or roll resistant, but I've recently used my Benchmade 921 (which has an S30V blade) to dig, scrape, and whittle pine for a few hours. My Sharpmaker and 204UF hones were there for frequent touchups (a knife that can shave can still be too dull for woodworking), but there was no rolling or chipping on the edges to make touch-ups difficult. Would have used the Native, but wanted to use a thinner blade.

They're both great steels, so whichever you obtain first should make you very happy.

I am really wanting one of the VG10 Natives, not because of the steel(I really like 440V and S30V)but because of the new handle design.
