Native lockback problem

definitely not normal. looks like the lock may not be fitting very well. I'd send it in to your dealer or Spyderco.

No, it isn't normal. Does the lockbar drop all the way down so it is flush with the spine of the blade when you are not cutting? A couple of months is enough time for pocket lint to get trapped under the lockbar or in the lockwell of the blade and prevent proper engagement. If a good cleaning doesn't cure it, a trip to Spyderco will.

Hi the lock bar does drop all the way down as it should so the blade and lock are flush, I thought the same thing that it might have lint trapped in it. I have already gave it a good clean! To no joy, It as been back to the shop I bought if from and they said it has been examined and that it is within expected tolerances for this model.

I wouldn't go back to this shop. And it needs to be looked at by Spyderco, I'd ask them to pay the postage.

Don't let the experience sour you on a Native, Pablo. I have 4 Natives and they are some of the best knives that I own.

Good deal on the refund. Like A.P.F. says, don't let this keep you from buying another one (preferably from a different source ;)). Spyderco is an extremely respected company with excellent quality, but like any other manufacturer, a dud will slip through every now and again.

The little native is my least expensive Spyderco, but it's also my favorite in terms of ergonomics.

Sorry you got a bum one. I'd consider trying again too. :o
