Native sharpening question

I just got a Native. Great little knife. What I wanted to know is if it is possible to sharpen the thin edge on the top of the blade. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any suggestions how I'd go about it?

You could sharpen the swedge on the Native. Diamond rods would be the only way to go unless you have a week to spare. However, you would then have about 1 1/2 inches of sharp blade exposed as you shoved it in or pulled it out of your pocket. I think it would be better (for safety purposes) to leave it unsharpened.

If you enjoy cutting yourself, sure. ;) :D
The false edge exposes above the handle. It won't be safe for you to sharpen it.

This was an idea just for fun. I knew the swedge would be rather unsafe for regular carry. If anything, I would just sharpen it up for a fierce looking knife. Thanks for all the info.

IMO, as previously mentioned, it would not be safe to sharpen the exposed false edge. The value of having a "fierce looking knife" would not be worth the exposed edge, which will ultimately cut you.

The Police model is designed to keep the false edge below the handle. That would work better sharpened.

Also keep in mind that a "double edged" knife is illegal in most places.

It already is a fierce looking knife :) i dont think sharpening the false edge would make it any fiercer looking. the only thing fierce would be the cost of all the bandaids for your hip.
