Native vs. Delica?

Personally I'd go with the Delica. First because its less expensive and I don't like the swedge on the native.

I have an older saber grind D4 that I like a lot and I know a lot of people on the forums have a Delica but hardly hear about the Native. I was wondering how the Native's steel and ergos stack up against the Delica.

I prefer the width of the handle on the Native FRN to the Delica's skinny handle. But I prefer the Delica FFG blade. The steels are a wash for my use. Anxiously waiting on the Native FRCP which should take care of both.

I was thinking an FRN battle royal, so just the FRN models of both. (I handled the Native5 and it seemed rather heavy to me.) I only have experience with VG-10 and am quite attached to it. Is the Spydiehole on the Native harder to use since it looks partially covered?( One of the reasons I love my Delica is the super accessible spydiehole.)

I like the Native5 out of all versions from the two. Native5 FRN is also in the works.

The native was one of the only spyderco's that I ever bought multiples of. SO I guess I'd say the native. My wife stole mine :/

I love the finger choil on the Native. Some do not, so something to keep in mind. Also, Native is riveted while Delica4 is screw const. Both awesome knives!

I love ergos of Native and cutting abilities of FFG Delica. Native5 is near perfect for me. If N5 is too expensive for you, I would wait until Spyderco produce FRN FFG Native, should be fairly soon.

I don't know if comparing the Native 5 is a fair comparison, but if you compare the older lightweight FRN Native, i would still opt for a Native. The ergos are better IMO. The steels, i could live with either one. I don't really see VG10 and S30V to be that different except for a slight difference in ease of sharpening vs. edge retention but neither one is enough for me to make the steel the deciding factor of the choice. I really like the Delica but the more i handle other Spyderco knives, the less i like it, and it's mainly because the ergonomics just don't work for my hands. If they eliminated the points from the finger grooves, the Delica would be 100x better IMO.

I've had an frn delica for over 15 years, and recently got my wife the pink frn native.
I like the cpm s30v of the native, i like the blade shape *but* i don't like the choil.
I like the handle ergonomics of the delica more, i like the built-in thumb ramp and it's got that classic spyderco recognizable shape.

If i had to buy for myself nowadays, i'd probably go delica out of the two... That being said i rarely carry my old delica anymore. I carry something more deep carry for work, and something larger sturdier the rest of the time.

I have multiples of both knives, and if I had to make a choice I'd probably have to pick the Delica. The handle and blade geometry are better in my opinion. Although I do REALLY like my new Native 5 with the FFG blade and G10.

I like the Delica better. It looks better. I also like the ergos. I love mine but I don't think it came with washers.

I like the look of the native5 better, but the rivets and the price really put me off to it.
I'd go for the delica out of the two choices.

I have both and really enjoy them equally. Deciding between the two would be difficult, can't go wrong with either. However, I do wish the Native used screws...I think I need a Native 5 now.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I could never feel any love for the Native. I had two, the FRN and the 5, sold 'em both. The large finger choil reduces the cutting edge to a point where it starts to limit what I need to do with my EDC knife. I'd go with a FFG Delica or even better, the Stretch--more blade and only slightly bigger handle.

I greatly preferred the Native III FRN VG10 with wire clip to the Native FRN as I felt the III had superior ergos and I happen to like VG10. I would take the Delica FRN FFG over both of those, however due to the FFG. The Native 5 trumps them all as it brings back some of the better ergos of the III along with a FFG S35VN blade.
