Been trying to justify buying one. I have a frn that I adore. Just wondering if anyone owns one and how they like it . Thx

I had both frn and G-10. I like the frn better so I kept that one and got rid of the G-10. I like how light the frn model is compared to the G-10.

No the where about the same. But my frn is supper smooth. When I depress the lock the blade falls until the choil hits my finger.

Is the G10 smoother when clipped? I cannot clip my FRN Native 5 without tearing up my pocket. In fact, when I first got it I tried that 2-3 times, and the inside pocket material in my cargo pants developed a small hole from just that. If the G10 version is about the same texture as, say, the Military or PM2, then it would be much smoother to clip than the FRN version.

I had one in s110v, the fit & finish were really nice but it was pretty stiff.
Yes I have trouble getting it to come out and I've tried everything ,loosen it ,lube . Closing is super smooth but not opening ,that's why I was thinking the g10 might be better

I don't understand it, my Manix 2 with g10 was like butter but not the Native. Maybe they used different washers or something, but if so why not use the same ones in all the knives, could be since they're mass produced as well and some are better than others

I think my G10 Native 5 might be a little smoother than my FRN Native 5, but I still prefer the FRN model. The G10 adds 2 ounces of weight to the knife, which doesn't seem to really fit for the size of the Native. Part of what I love about the knife is the light weight. At 4.5 ounces for the G10 model, I'd really expect a little more handle and blade.

As far as pocket shredding, the G10 will be better at NOT shredding. Some people smooth the bi-directional FRN where the clip bites against the handle.

Either way, if weight isn't an issue for you, you can't go wrong with any kind of Native!

i own a bunch of native's,i carry my 5/G10 about every other day!some would say its a little heavy for its size!but i no its in my pocket,i had the FRN/5 and gave it away as a gift, but would say the 5/G10 is a little smoother opening and closing, vary robust little knife though.

I have a couple Native LWs and a couple with G10. The G10s are very smooth, fit and finish is great, and the SS backspacers look nice too. I would say that my G10 Natives are smoother than the LWs but not by much. They're all pretty smooth but a little different due to different construction. All that said, I do carry a LW more just because they're so darned light, I like the bi-directional texturing on the FRN, and I like the way the blade falls when I press the lock bar.

My G10 is smooth on the open and close. I picked the G10 over the FRN purely on looks. I love that smooth steel back spacer that runs the length of the knife.

In my pocket right now!

I have the Maxamet and the blurple G10 versions. I prefer the G10. I like the added weight. It just feels much more solid to me. I really like the look off it, too. As stated by others, that stainless steel back of the knife is also another reason I prefer it. Both are smooth droppers when the lock is disengaged. I would say the G10 version is a hair smoother, though.
