NATO Survival Matches vs. REI Storm Matches

Are these two matches basically the same or is one better than the other?

The REI match is 2 3/4". How long is the NATO?

I've got both and the NATO matches are considerably shorter. I've had much better luck with the REI matches, they seem to light easier, and burn a little longer and more consistantly. I've gone through 4 of the small canisters on the NATO matches, and have had very inconsistent results with the striking material on the lid. It just doesn't want to light the match sometimes, where as if I try the same match on an alternate striker it lights right up. I've also had a few of the NATO matches turn out out to be very brittle. If you've got room for the larger REI matches, I recommend those. Of course, YMMV. Have a good one.

And I almost forgot, the NATO matches I have are just under 2" long.

I have read several posts that suggest that sharply pushing the NATO match into the abrasive surface works far better than drawing the head across that surface. No personal experience, but thought I'd pass along the advice of others.
