Anyone know from actual experience if smooth natural (uncolored) bone will darken with time and use? I'm considering this material on a new GEC. Wouldn't hurt my feelings to know it'll darken over the years.

Here is one with almost a century of age. Note a little bit of shrinkage.

wow!!...smiling knife...that is one hell of a neat looking knife!!, I really love the old knives that have such rich patina - awesome.
biglmbass...you can guarantee that in time the bone will develop a better and more beautifull colouring.

The nice thing about untreated natural bone is that it takes well to a mineral oil bath. Gives it a nice translucence and keeps it from drying out.
This is an A.G. Russell lockback which got the home oil bath treatment.

I like smooth bone and have started to oil them as well.

Smiling-knife: that's a terrific old knife, is there a story behind her?

Corey, that's a sweet little lockback, I did not see it on A.G.'s site, when is it from?
