I have a Lionsteel Shuffler reserved but I can't decide between Bocote and natural canvas micarta. Any pictures and experiences with micarta are appreciated, thanks guys.

You are going to gets lots of pictures of this knife for natural micarta:

Micarta is very tough and will darken over time. It is more more durable than wood, but IMO lacks the character and uniqueness of wood covers.
Here is an example of Bocote:

There's a little variation in the natural canvas, too. Sometimes it's more orange, sometimes more yellow/lighter.

For the Lionsteels I would look at the covers on the Maserins that CK has for sale, since they're made in the same part of the world.

Will the knife be a user or a safe queen? I have lots of knives with micarta handle material. It will be far more durable than bocote but not as pretty. Micarta can be finished in lots of different ways and a canvas finish will pick up oils and dirt.

It's been my experience that a mild cleaning of "patina" from canvas micarta can bring back the original coloration. Some hot water and a drop of dish soap does the trick.

I'm a fan of micarta in that it takes on a bit of character after extended use/carry. My forum barlow has a bit of a blue hue to it after carrying it for a month in my jeans coin pocket.

Top is a brand new GEC TC Moose and the bottom is a 2 month old or so forum barlow to see how mine has aged in use. It does seem that micarta almost always gets a white-ish hue to it like the ends of clothy material gets ruffled up. Kind of like sleeves and collars get on older cotton shirts that have been around for a while, especially the collar if you carry stubble on your face much.

I will also add that I love wood also. I tend to favor wood if I want a classier look but micarta for a classy working/user look. I prefer the grip of micarta more but I have a lot of wood handles as well as I tend to dislike bone, delrin, and stag as a handle material. G10 is okay but lackluster to me unless it's layered or a color I can't get in micarta, like orange and blue.

top one is micarta (rucarta, as AG Russell calls it).

There are some that are were woven with much larger yarn sizes than others and depending on the amount of resin, the ends of the yarn might be exposed. Some are finished with a high luster and don't appear to expose the ends.
