I started a thread just the other day called "Grandma's Cures".

I'm very interested in Natural Cures and how someone can take the steps necessary to help cure themselves naturally and stay healthy. I'll admit I haven't always taken the best care of myself, but it's becoming more and more important for me to try to stay as healthy as I can for as long as I can. Everybody I know is in pain and on some form of meds. I'm not. I'd like to stay off meds and if I can offer some direction to my friends on how they may be able to help themselves.

Kevin Trudea has a infomercial on a book called "Natural Cures" that I understand has no cures in it at all. I'm sure there are books, articles and websites and Grandma's cures that can be helpful.

If you have any first hand knowledge or can recomend some source information I'd love to hear about it.

Jeez, it's beginning to look like a damn doctor's office in Community! Ok, pay me your copay and have a seat. The doctor will ignore you for 1/2 hour past your scheduled appointment and then when your name is called we will let sit for another 1/2 hour in the examination room with nothing to do but read boring wall charts and fling spit balls with tongue depressers. After the doc does see you, (all 5 minutes) he will prescribed 13 types of pills (half of which aren't covered by your insurance) for your head cold. When you leave the office you will be struck by a bus. But at least you got your lollipop. :D

but hey..you should be feeling better until your insurance company denies the claim because it was filed under the wrong diagnosis code or because the doctor charges more than the usual or customary fee that the insurance company decides is fair...You saw the Doc and he charged you $80..well what we feel is right is $20 so your phucked out of $60...sorry..should have waited a few days for that cold to clear up....

My advice would be to be extremely skeptical of most of the so-called "natural" cures, "herbal" medicines, homeopathy, etc.

A useful website of many years duration is Quackwatch:

There are a number of other reputable sources as well, including the NIH.

Excellent advice and thanks for the link.

I would be just as skeptical about the major drug companies whose profits depend on hooking me onto their products for life, and have no desire or incentive to see me get better. ;)

The human body is sort of the ultimate gadget or your most important piece of gear. So, why not move 'em to G&G?
:D

All I suffer through is dust and pollen allergies... allegra takes care of that.

garlic, cayene, lots of water, lots of red meat... haven't been really sick in a long time.
