After making my spoon for the contest and trying to dye it with tea I have gotten interested in making some natural dyes of my own. I read a few web pages about it and struck out on the experimentation road to see what I could come up with. So far I have done the acorn and rust to get a dark purple near black color, picked all the pink blooms that were still in the flower garden and came up with a rich almost royal purple. I even stripped some leaves off of the box elder in the yard and boiled them down. They make a bile yellow color:barf:
Anyone else try making their own natural dyes? What have you tried and what did you get? I will say one thing, even though the colors I got are bold in liquid form, they don't transfer well to leather
