Im sure lots of you guys have seen the Case mid folding hunter. This knife appealed to me in a huge way, with the old timey look and stag handles. However I found that while beautiful, it has several shortcomings that detered me from the purchase. The pinned on pocketclip to name one.http://www.knifeworks.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3083

I love the look of this knife! The absence of black blade and black polymer scales is so refreshing these days, it just suits my personality to a tee.

Does anyone know of some other variations of this idea? A knife with tactical folder function, and traditional looks?

Justs looks like something at6 home on a hunting or backpacking trip!

Thanks Brad. :D

Oh and p.s. price range about one hundred dollars (really love the stag too!!)

Benchmade 690, and some ltd editions of other models have wood scales, Boker copperliners have stag & bone/a couple of H&K folders have wood, Kabar technocut, Kershaw Splinter, Seki Cut Hiro designs, Timberline winewood Wortac, Xikar Elan and Xtreme

In a production knife I would suggest a Spyderco Kiwi with jigged bone scales as a very nice answer. I'm really looking forward to the AG Russell Exclusive Kiwi version in Stag.

I know how you feel, lately I have been drawn to more "traditional" stuff also, setting aside my fancy tactical stuff for a stag handled Stockman. One note on the Case you linked to, I was looking at one for the same reasons you stated, but at a recent gun and knife show I handled 2 of them, and quite frankly the knife seemed like a cheap piece of junk.

I know what you mean! A real shame as they are quite visually attractive.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions, im looking into them now.

Buck 110

Wood scales, Bronze bolsters. Or you can go with a custom version through Bucks Custom shop, and have damascus blade, stag, and other handle materials.

Hey thanks so much for the link to this! While I respect the 110 as is due , Im not a huge fan. My father in law LOVES them however and this would be a fantastic gift! Nickle bolsters and BG-42!!!

Later this year Spyderco is comeing out with the Kopa.It is sort of a cross between the Navigator and Dragonfly.
It will have steel bolsters and natural scales with a clip.
Knifesite.com has the shell inlay Natives also.

Sweeeeeet...... Ive as of late become a very big Spyderco fan. I used to be not so very impressed , but Ive bought and carried a few over the last month or two and theyve blown me away!!

You could go the custom route, something to think about. You can also take a really great tactical folder and utilize the services of numerous knifemakers or people who do production knife modifications for reasonable cost.It is not that big of a problem to change black g-10 scales to nice stag or bone.
