Nature of a Kydex sheath

So I have a few knives with Kydex sheaths, but hear is my question;

By the nature of how a kydex sheath works, how often do you guys run into a problem of your sheath "wearing out" and no longer holding the knife in place?

I have yet to have this happen, aside from a coldsteel push dagger's sheath completely falling apart, the other sheaths are fine... but my newest one seems always to have little pieces of plastic on the choil where presumably it is pulling off bits of the sheath that normally hold the blade in place.

Just looking for your thoughts and expertise on the subject as I, typically carrying traditional, dont have a ton of kydex in my collection.

If the knife is damaging the sheath something's wrong with design or manufacture. If it loosens from wear you can always use a propane torgr to heat locally and pinch it a

Kydex will loosen up if it gets too hot. Leaving it in your car on a hot day can even do it. It is easily molded back by dipping it into boiling water for several seconds and using a towel to press it tight. The knife has to be inserted into the sheath after boiling and before pressing. Leather sheaths can get destroyed if they get wet for too long. As far as kydex bits coming out of the inside I would say it's either bits accidentally trapped in there during manufacture of improperly designed. Any cheaper knife can, & will likely, come with a lackluster sheath

That is fair i suppose the knife was only about thirty bucks... Im just irked that it already appears to be loosening.... perhaps Ill make this a project and make a decent leather sheath for my knife.

30 bucks? Are you sure you're dealing with kydex? I can't say I've seen a 30 dollar knife come with kydex.

I suppose it could be a plastic sheath... The knife is a boker+ gnome. I'll recheck the site I bought it from.

(Edit) the site claims it as kydex.
