Hi all,

I made this video review recently and it should serve as a nice reference for those interested in the knife. Any feedback/suggestions for making these videos better is welcome. Enjoy!

Thanks. Good review and I'm glad to see one of this knife, I've been curious about it. :)

Nice vid, for a great looking knife!

I returned my Navaja for a Refund today. It seems that the grind and the blade width Just aren't suited to my minimum level of performance. (If it's any consolation Ed Schempp my new standard is none other than the Manix2, also in s30v.)

The navaja seemed to drag through cardboard, then stopped cutting paper, then stopped popping hair. All within minutes. Cutting 550 cord proved to be tricky (vs the manix2 s30v) and push cuts difficult on its tanto-like belly. It was wonderfully done in all other aspects and looks great with a lanyard.

A higher manix style grind would make this as dangerous as a razor, which is what I was expecting. This blade grind is neither razor sharp nor durable on the unit I received. Also, the spyderhole was rather far up requiring a LONG throw to open the blade upright. It was almost easier to open in tip down because of this.

I also have a manix2 m4 pre ordered and highly recommend you try this model if you have not.

:thumbdn: You returned a used knife that you dulled to the store where you bought it?

If my reason for returning the knife was unclear from the post itself, we can spend some time laying it all out for you. In the mean time ill get us back on topic. I'm trying to inform future buyers that this knife looks and sounds great but may deliver unsatisfactory performance relative to other blade geometries and grind styles.

And RevDevil, thanks for letting us know where you stand on the topic of knife return policy compliance with that cute little thumbs down emoticon. Time well spent!

Come on, did you really need to infuse your answer with so much sarcasm? Seriously...

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. It sounds like you may have received a blade that did not have an adequate heat treatment. My example of the Navaja was razor sharp and has remained so for the week or so I have been carrying/using it regularly.

I actually like the flat grind despite the rather thick blade stock. The manix2 is a totally awesome blade. I have a blue one in S30V and love it. I think that the upcoming M4 version will be a true workhorse and I am sure you will be happy with your decision. In terms of pure performance, the manix2 beats the navaja hands down. It is almost an ounce lighter and is one of the stoutest blades I have ever handled.

Be sure to keep your M4 oiled in the pivot and polish it up at the first sign(s) of rust. If you don't let the rust take a foothold you will have no problems.

OK, OK! Your right! I publicly apologize to Rev for the sarcasm, so sensitive you guys are lately!

Thanks John for your explanation. I probably should have returned the Navaja to Spyderco for resolution/replacement, but I fear that the Manix2 has spoiled me.

(On that note, I ordered the FRCP lightweight Manix2 due out later this year as a gift but I might need to order a second for me! The Manix2 has put my $300+ Microtechs, also in S30V TO SHAME, for less that half the price/weight. The Protech auto's STAY)

I am thinking about getting one of the Navaja, after maybe selling a couple of knives or something.
