I think it worked well. The knife doesn't rust anymore. A light patina forms when the knife is exposed to water, but it's barely noticeable and it wipes off with oil.

I added a patina to some Benchmade pocket clips with naval jelly and it worked great. But neither naval jelly nor acetone would strip the coating from a Benchmade blade... still good (as in "super nasty") stuff nonetheless, and your knife looks great!

I used Jasco stripper to remove the coating.
 
This thing looks great, deserves more attention than it's gotten so far. I can't picture it on a black handled one though. The leather is what really makes it work. Did you have it stripped for a while before you put the patina on, or did you strip it with the intention of putting a patina on?
