On Aug 13 2002 I bought a Syderco Navigator VG-10 plain edge.

In thinking about what I was going to write about the knife I thought I would first ask the BF members what they would like to know about the Navigator.

I have only had the navigator for a short time so the first part of the review will include my first thoughts of the knife, photo's and answers to any questions you may have about the knife.

I'm using the knife for my EDC.

As time goes on and I use the navigator more I will ad to the review so you can see how well the knife hold up.

So what would you like to see in a review of the navigator?

I'd like to see normal uses you'll encounter, edge holding (ie cutting cardboard) perhaps some stain resistence.

One thing that I did not care for much right from the day I bought the navigator was the sharp edge right above the hole.

It did not make the knife very pocket friendly. Everytime I would put my hand in my pocket to get keys I would hit that edge with the side of my hand.
Now it was not sharp enough to scratch my hand, but it was just about to that point.
It was just sharp enough to make it bug me.

I have been thinking about this problem for a few days now and today I did something about it.

I took my DMT hones and made that sharp edge more rounded.
It did not have to take as much off as I thought I would.

It only took a few strokes with my blue DMT hone to shape the edge. Then I used my green DMT hone to polish it.

I'm not sure if you can even tell in the photo that I took any off it was such a small amount.

I think it looks fine and it feels even better. The edge is very smooth and it makes it very pocket friendly now.

Very glad I did it! :)
