I know what you're thinking...
You can use those for surgery? Well, yes you can!
But...
that's not what this thread is about.
I need to perform surgery ON a Navitool.

The LED is not working. (Yes, I checked the battery.)
I took Torx screws out until I feared the thing was gonna end up in my hands like so many watches I've disassembled. Have any of you ever taken one of these down to the guts? I figure there is a bad connection somewhere?

Thanks,
Greg

how did it go? my I Quip is not working also. have not changed out the battery yet and since the battery is not in the part with the display wondering how it works?

I gave up on the surgery. As for your I-Quip, putting a pair of new batteries in should be fairly easy. The one for the LED light is straight forward. As for the one for the module, you'll have to check the manual.

took out the battery in the I-Quip and traded it for the one with the light. viola! i now have a functional I-Quip. it is pretty neat telling direction, altitude, barometric pressure and time. i will take a photo of the Navitool and it side by side. they look almost identical even to the tools.

Yeah, now you got me upset I passed on that one. I've been looking ever since. Just missed out on a lightly used one.

My turn will come.

I just picked up one mint in package should I rip into it ?

Hey Bridgy I will when it gets here ,I picked it up in Australia .

I don't know if i'll do a Pygy with shreaded clam pack everywhere .

I was going to bid on that one, but shipping to the states was a bit steep. You got a decent deal my friend, congrats!

Thanks I have picked up some nice stuff of him before.
I was trying to find out his supplier but he reckons its all from his collection .

He seems to part with his prized collection too easily to be a collector ,then again I can't talk :D

Haqve to give it a test run then post here .
Hope the battery is ok .

G'day Jamo,I have an unused I Quip...unused because I read the instruction booklet and cannot understand how to use it......I know how to use the physical knives etc as I have some Navitools but as for the Altimeter and Barometer etc...I have no idea...I dont think I even worked out how to set the time?. and when I did I think it came out as Tennessee time!....when you've done your homework can you let this Senior Citizen know please?.......Hoo Roo

Hello UL thanks for Jacob's one you gave him last year he loves it .

I have the same sort of stuff in the bosses Landcruiser have not worked it out either yet .

Will look for a tropical low during Cyclone season .
If I let you know anything after that you know it works .
I don't think the whistle would help . Unless to pop the air out of my ears .
Could use the thermometer as a cyclone hit . I wouldn't bend over though .
Or might just sit down and set the stopwatch .
Might get to use the scissors or blade on seat bet then look into the mirror to reduce the spinnage .
Then would go for the can opener as the digital compass would be spinning
Have to go to the beach to set the Altimeter. That wouldn't be accurate with a tidal surge .
I might just put my UL 125ot on and be done with it hey big fella ?

did you look at the little book or the big book both of which came in the packaging. in the big book there are directions which are pretty straight forward. the key being which orange side tab you start with. the most important being the orange tab to the right upper side (2 o'clock). everything sets off it by using the other keys. when setting the time the ones to the left are up (top tab) and down (tab at 7 o'clock) for changing the time. good luck and will be glad to help further if needed.
going to take mine semi camping monday to check and see how accurate the altimeter is. friend of mine is over and we are motorcycling to the highest point in alabama and staying in a cabin. will ride out from there to seek good roads to ride on.

Thanks for helping UL Delmas ,he sometimes gets frustrated with my interpertation on things .
Do you have to set your Altimeter to a high tide mark ie set it to zero at the beach on the waters edge .
UL was worried the water level is higher up there I think being American made and set.

Seriously have a good run on your bike ,the cabin sounds good .
Hope you have a good back rest on your saddle to stoke the fire for you .
Then again it must be warming up over there now .
Its the Winter over here now ,had to put a T-shirt on the other day .

When I go fishing I like to take a Rod holder maybe this
Navi Tool will be just as handy .

Hi all I found a NIB "ST175"on ebay in Australia for $25, about two months later I had a friend over to look a my Schrade collection, who gave me a New in the packet "IQ180". Luck can come two times in two months - however not very often like this...

the altimeter was pretty accurate, couldn't quite figure out how to correctly read the compass but then again have not read the directions on that part yet. the barometric pressure reading is cool but unless you are expecting a typhon why would you need that?
camping was good turned out to be the main building we stayed in but it was on the crest so could look down both sides out to the valley on each side. Tuesday morning was really cool with the mist hanging in the low spots before the sun burned it off.
