My two alma maters (University of Vermont and Syracuse) are meeting in the first round. Bummer. I thought UVM might get an 11 or 12 seed but I think SU is on a roll right now. I know I'll be watching, rooting for UVM with my heart and SU with my head.

I think if Illinois gets to the finals, there's nothing stopping them from winning it all. Of course, I could be a bit prejudiced, but who cares?

My family always puts all the names into a hat and draws them out. (That way you don't have to mess with filling out brackets.) This year, I added my daughter's name to my wife's and my son's name to my list, to get them more involved. They were a bit spooked when I called a family meeting on Monday so we could all list the teams! (First Family meeting ever) 15 yo daughter wasn't thrilled that she had to wait to call her boyfriend. My 7 yo son held us all up trying to find the teams and write the initials next to them.

One year after I moved out, my brothers had a second hat, with all the 14, 15 and 16 seeded teams in it, and let just my father pick out of it! The called me up still laughing about his yelling every time he pulled another team out that he'd never heard of!
