NCIS knife spotting

I love these but wish they came in a plain edge. It's really sad that stupid laws make the market so small. I'd love to see a ZT 0350 style as an automatic with the arc lock release of the Emerson Auto Commander that Kershaw made.

For some reason when I see a Kershawguy thread, I half expect that these are for sale and reach for my paypal info.

^This.

NCIS is the reason I got my 0303. Now I'm going to start snooping for that piece...however impossible it may be.

With the advances in knife technology I don't really see the need for automatic knives as much.. I have assisted and even bearing knives that open super fast...

There is a long running thread about knives on NCIS:

A ZT folder figured prominently in the season finale episode last year, and another one figured prominently in follow-up episodes at the beginning of the season this year:

And always remember Gibbs rule #9- "never go anywhere without a knife"

Federal law prohibits Dave from shipping them to you though even though it is legal in your state. He can ship inside state lines though. Most of the online retailers skirt those laws with a "if you keep clicking you are law enforcement" type notice. Dave chooses to follow the laws.

A local chain in Portland and Salem Oregon sells Benchmade autos. The Vancouver Washington one a few minutes away across the Columbia river does not. Seattle Amry Navy sells autos to Law Enforcement and has a sign posted on their counter that says you must present valid ID before they will even let you handle and test their auto knives. Seattle as a city also has stricter limits on blade length and they have a measuring mat on their counter and my 0300 and 0560 are both over. That stupid limit is probably the only reason they don't currently carry ZTs as all of their employees liked my 0300 (slow day) and the guys at the counter looking the day I had my 0560 were really impressed and would have bought one over the Benchmade they were looking at. The counter guy that time didn't care to see it because he was a huge Spyderco fan and I got in to a minor argument with him over something about the legacy of Bob Lum and his influences.

You, of all people get into an argument? No way!:p

Wasn't really an argument. I was looking at a Benchmade LFTi and made a comment about how Bob Lum was from Oregon, has a specific style of tanto grind that I thought he's left as a legacy, and that his designs very often were patterned off of Chinese peasant knives and designed for use from designs that evolved over many centuries. The guy took great offense at his Spyderco being compared to a peasant knife and walked off in a huff. I'm only a totally obnoxious jackass on the internet! For God's sake man, what kind of monster do you think I am! :)

Yep, autos aren't illegal here either unless you're a LEO, EMT, or first responder. My previous job qualified as a first responder & one of my coworkers carried a Benchmade auto. He really liked my 301 though!
