This is probably going to sound REAL stupid :D but last night on NCIS: New Orleans, the lab determined that the murder weapon was a -

Benchmade Steel Knife

Say what??? I thought all of their knives were steel knives.

I watched the segment 4 times and every time it sounded like "Benchmade Steel Knife"

Just on the off chance that Benchmade had such a model name, I googled it. Yep, no such animal that I can find.

So does anyone know what knife they were REALLY referring to? Or was it just TV LaLa Land idiocy??

Any news article in the "drive by" media about a knife or gun can be assumed to be wrong. Unless written by Stephen Hunter of course .

Yah this! ^^^

TV and movies esp drive me nuts that they can't even do a little bit of research to get it at least half right.

There are one or two exceptions.

My wife got me watching that show for a few years now .

And the make SO many idiotic statements for NO REASON AT ALL.

Abby the "high tech" lab lady just had to say "it was a standard 9 MM with 120 grain bullets" , WTF ?.

WHY do they have to make up stuff that does not exist ???.

They do it so often that it ruins the show for anyone that has a knowledge of guns and ammo as well as blades [ but they at least carry non China made blades ].

And the used to carry Glocks, and took the LOUD safetys off every time they drew them,BUT there is no issue safety on a Glock !!.

Too many other things that are done FOR NO LOGICAL REASON .

Add the "steel knife" to that list.

OK, so I have a little OCD...

Kept looking and found a transcript of the show (NCIS:NO episode #115 (Season 1 Episode 15) Le Carnivale de la Mort

"But I used the, uh, measurements from Toussaint's wounds to determine that he was stabbed with a Benchmade steel knife."

And later in the show...

"The knife you found with him matches the murder weapon."

So there we have it - Naval Petty Officer Toussaint, Patrice WAS killed with a Benchmade steel knife.

As an aside, I don't understand why they had to specify that he was a NAVAL Petty Officer. The Marines, Army and Air Force don't have Petty Officers.
Granted he COULD have been a Coastie Petty Officer, but this is NCIS. not CGCIS. :D

This is standard issue now... every time someone draws and points a pistol - any pistol - you hear that sound. Same as that shiiiing sound when someone draws a knife.

Adds to the 'drama' dont you know....

The other favourite they are in a gunfight and pulling the trigger and its just clicking to indicate the gun is 'empty'.... but the slide hasn't locked back.

I could go on and on...
