If you didn't see tonights season finale episode, don't read any further.

Well, I saw the season finale of NCIS. Whoah. A good episode. Either Mark Harmon is going to play an integral role on the side lines next season, or he is quitting acting altogether. I don't know anything about the actor, but the character of Leroy Jethro Gibbs wouldn't walk away so easily. It is just a tv show though. If in fact he didn't just walk away from the show, which I don't think he did, heres my synopsis of whats going on.

He was completely ignored by the Naval commander, and the cargo ship blew up, killing the crew and the Navy SEAL team boarding it. Gibbs, burned like a carnival hot dog, probably just had had enough of being ingnored by upper echelon officials. But, the way the character is written and acted, he gave up way too easy.

So he ends up at his buddy's spot down in Mexico. He presumably killed the guy who killed his wife and daughter as evidenced by their conversation in the hospital. He's there to fish and drink beer and ogle pretty senoritas. Will he go back to his house and work on his boat some more? Probably, but that boat has been sitting there since his daughter was alive, at least.

Now, the guy has no qualms about murder of bad guys. When he was an NCIS agent, he was restrained by the rules. Now, he's a free agent. Is he the type to start his own team of old guns, ala the Wild Bunch :D , to combat terrorism. Both his old boss and he were pretty mad about Bin Laden.

Why do I think this? The show is doing great in the ratings, it has more than a cult audience, it's been on Tuesdays for the past three years, and has a good cast. It's corny from time to time, but it's still very good. I am biased, it's probably the only show that I will not miss. If my idea doesn't pan out, or something like it, I still think that Mark Harmon will be a part of the show. I don't think that the guy who plays Dinozzo can carry the show as the lead.

Of course, if we get a butt shot of Ziva, I could care less about whether or not Gibbs stays on.

It reminded me of the ending story of Forrest frigging Gump. Look familiar to you? Instead of Forrest working on a boat, Gibbs buddy is working on a car at the beach. I love NCIS and Mark Harmons character and I am not ready to give up Agent Gibbs this easily. :(

Ziva's,Abby's.It's all the same to me.:D

My wife pointed out that it reminded her of the season ender on another Belisarius production a few ywars back when Harm Rabb resigned from JAG to go and rescue Mac. The first few shows of the next season had him mucking around with the CIA and then spraying fields in the Shenandoah before getting the Admiral to accept him back into JAG. Perhaps that is what they have in mind for the Gibbs character.

BTW, Cindy, my wife's favorite characters are Zeva and Abby as they get the very best lines in the show, especially Zeva.

The very last thing he said to his team was "Semper Phi".
The actual quote is "Semper Fi" standing for "Semper Fideles", the Marine Corps motto, "Always Faithful."

I suspect Gibbs will be lured back to NCIS by some calamity at about the start of the next season. The TV guide mentioned in it's "finale" section that Harmon had re-signed.

To quote a certain well-known Science Officer, "Fascinating."

Hence reinforcing my belief that he will be back.

you gotta love NCIS, what a great show, and also probably one of the only ones on TV that consistantly portrays knives in a positive manner.

Plus Abby wants me, I can see the look in her eye.

Yeah, they can't get rid of Gibbs. It would kill the show. They haven't cultivated another character to take his place, and even if they brought Kate back from the dead I would not waste my time watching Dinozo lead that gang.

Now if Ziva and Abby (Put Not Community Appropriate Thought Here). Although I do think those characters are some of the best female roles on TV right now.

This'll send it to Whine & Cheese for sure.

What do you all suppose is the relationship between Zeva and Jenny?

BTW, how many remember last week's show when Abby and Zeva finally had at each other? It was, admittedly, a bit of a farce, but if Zeva had let herself go, Abby would have been cold meat on the floor and Zeva would have been facing murder charges. Not a good way to end the season, all in all, since those are the two most popular characters on the show. I do, however, have a fond memory of Ilya Kuryackin, err, David MacCallum, Dr. Ducky Mallhard.

Nothing Whine and Cheese worthy, the characters don't seem that way. Probably some kind of joint operation they did together.

Aww, you're spoiling somebody's fantasy. :D Looking back, it would have been Nimick's fantasies that you spoiled.

Edited to add the 2nd sentence.

I don't recall exactly how the conversation went but in one episode Abby asked Gibbs what Ducky looked like as a young man. Gibbs replied, "llya Kurachin". Pretty funny, kind of an inside joke.
