Hi everybody. I'm trying to remember which website to replace Photobucket.
We had a thread on Photobucket raising it's prices and the alternatives to it.
I joined one of the suggested sites and now I can't remember which one.
I'm getting old:rolleyes:
Thanks.

Most here have known that for a long time.

Problem is, many folks don't have a quick and easy way to downsize their pictures so the BladeForum will accept them.

That's why they go to other sites like Imgur.......to AVOID that problem.

Imgur will downsize your photos as you bring them to their site.....at the size of your choice. You still retain your original high pixel (large) picture in your computer.

Now some say you should set your camera to take downsized pictures that will work on BladeForum.......which is fine.....UNLESS you have a picture you later find you want to make into an 8X10 or larger or you want to crop it down a lot and then blow that crop up to a larger size.

Then you're screwed.

So most people want their camera set to take the highest quality, sharpest picture possible.......and such pictures will have to be downsized to fit through the BladeForum posting system.

I just use my phone and down size before pic is taken then post it here. Pics look great

Why not create your own website and post your pictures there. Then you can give your family, friends and closest knife nuts your personal website address to keep up with recent updates or just copy the link location of your pictures to post them on BF.

Blogger.com is part of Google. It only requires a GMail email account to get started. There is a little learning involved, but it's not that hard and it is rewarding.

So easy to post pictures. Take pic and attach. From the upload button you can select camera, take pic and it's done, pick full size image or thumb
Nail. But it appears you have to be a paying member.

The problem is Gold membership only gets you 20MB of storage. Due to the pukebucket problem, I lost over 1,600 images on this forum, no way I could fit them into 20MB. I've cut back on my image posting but at the old rate would run out of space in much less than a year.... then what?

The administration of this forum has disapointingly never given clear information about the limits or given tools to see where you stand on your allotment. Yes, there are bits and pieces of information if you wade thru the tech support questions but they need to create a sticky and put it all in one place.

when I upload pics here on forum they go into a 20mb storage??--hell I don't know---if it wasn't easy fer me like it is-there would be none from me here--and you know where you can see my other pics....right....I don't understand losing all those pictures????why??? is that cuz of pukebucket??? all of my pictures are on my computer so I wont lose any of them no matter what happens on the forum....
and then if I ever need a better quality or larger photo than email size I will just take another picture of the knife at higher quality--after all it is only a knife that gets better with age right.....:D

While that may work for you, many of us take many pictures of many different subjects and many captures are singular incidents that cannot be replicated later.

and MANY OF YOU post those photos here on the BUCK KNIFE FORUM---WE are talking knives right???? maybe I'm confused here...
I am talking KNIVES here and was not referring to anything else---I believe that is what the op of this thread wants help with....not taking photos of a wedding or football game or grandkids or fish RIGHT...but here we go again!!!!!!!
LETS GET BACK TO WHAT THE OP WANTS OK....

You misunderstand.

The point is that many of us don't want to be adjusting the pixel quality (size) that's set on our camera for different subjects.

Now if all you take is knives for the forum......just leaving yours set on a low pixel quality size works for you.

But many of us take picks that have to be excellent quality........for example, may have to be blown up to portrait size or larger or even cropped and a small portion blown up to a large size--thus we need to take all pics at high quality or be faced with a lot of tinkering to change sizes for different situations.

Does that explain it better?

While your way works good for you.......it will not work for a lot of people as general advice.

that's fine --believe me I do understand vorpal---you don't understand--I and many of us can adjust the size of my photos on my camera in less than 3 seconds---it is real simple once you figure it out.... AND it is even simpler on a smart phone...
and the op wants help to post photos on here of knives I believe---can we help him with that--ya think...
lets make that easy for him ---not beating this up confusing the fellow more cuz of what you want....
I would like to see his knife pictures--right NOTHING else...

Sure. I agree with that.

If his camera and photography habits are like yours that's great.

If not, your solution will not work for him or many others.

If people have to make those camera changes often and possibly end up with a wrong setting for an important picture.......no, your method would not work.

You can't just assume YOUR way is best for everybody. Different people will have to use different methods to suit their own needs.

That's the message here, like it or not.

Don't kill the messenger.
