It's time to do it again!

Let's get out in the woods and use those blades! Our clearing in the woods keeps getting a little bigger each year, and with the trees we dropped already we can get up a fire and burn some dogs for lunch.

Mark your calendars for Sat. Oct. 24, 10:00am. After our fun and fill of dogs, we might retire to the Winking Lizard in nearby Peninsula and enjoy their extensive beer menu.

Location is just 1/2 mile from the Rt 303 exit (Exit 12) off I-271 in Richfield. And a 1/2 mile hike to our spot. The spot has a small pond (may be fishable? bring a pole and find out!) and is right along a power line right-of-way, so we can chop down a few more trees and do them a favor.

Bring your knives, big and small, all brands, to use and abuse, and for show and tell if you have safe queens. All are welcome; Hogs, Rats, Dogs, would-be, wanna-be, lurkers and others.

Please EMAIL me for specific directions, so that I can add you to our mailing list for future events.

Who knows, maybe Skunk will fly in and show us how to cook the hot dogs.

here is the thread from out last GTG, with pics and a vid of the fun. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=643802

Week from tomorrow. What are you bringing? I'll have a Ruck, Waki, SHBM, HHFSH, Killa Zilla, FBM, Ratweiler, and more for your chopping pleasure.

Please EMAIL for more info.

Pumpkin SAR-8 , NMFBM, might bring the AK again :D
Prolly a couple others

OK, so it might be a little cool and damp tomorrow.

That just means we have to build a bigger fire. :D

Well, we got lucky on the weather. The trail was damp walking in, but no rain on our heads. We were only four this time, no matter, still had a good time.

The obligatory knife pron shots. Not as many as usual.

It was nice to try out the SAR8. Seems like a good all-rounder; I agree with forager that it could use a thicker scales. I had recently scored a Satin Battle Rat with a Ban edge (kinda funny actually, the factory edge on the SBR is really good). I think the SBR chops a little better than the SAR8, and feels better in hand, so that helps quell my desire for a SAR8... but they sure do look good.

The NMFBM is still the chopper king. But the Waki is just plain fun to use.

It was a little hard to get a fire going with everything so wet, but we managed to burn some dogs. from the left: forager, intel440, rtiger2.

intel's wife was kind enough to make us pasta salad, and it was really good, with Italian dressing and feta cheese. Thank You!

So, if you stayed away for fear of the weather, you missed a good time. We will meet for lunch over the winter, late January or February, with a knife show-and-tell. Then back to the woods in late spring. It's a great chance to try out a variety of knives, and just plain fun to hang out with fellow knife knuts, so try to join us some time.

edit to add: If you would like to get on our mailing list, for advance notice on future events, please EMAIL me.

Man that looks fun. I will really have to try and make the next one. Glad you are liking that SBR!!

Here's a couple more pictures.

There used to be a nice pond here but there was a failure in the dam and unfortunately it drained  The leaves are pretty though  Wonder what was in those drums
