Nearly perfect knife!

A year or two ago I picked up my first rat. A Ratmandu tanker Grey blade with black canvas micarta handle. That knife converted me to SR101 steel. While it has become a favorite of mine, I always found the handle just a little small in girth though not in length.

Recently I had the pleasure of picking up a very nice Swamprat Mini mojo from another forum member. This knife has the M6 handle which fits my hand much better. It has enough weight to handle light chopping, and the blade design handles most tasks easily. Though the blade catch does interfere a tiny bit with a couple hand positions.

Now I have to figure out which to get next!

What size mitts do you have Mike? I find that the best knife to ever emerge from the Swamp from an ergonomic standpoint to be the Chopweiler or Battle Rat. I have large mitts, and I find that both handles seem to just melt into my hands. The Ratweiler, Rat Mastiff, and Rat Daddy were all unique; no doubt about it. However, I agree with Cliff Stamp when he said that choking forward is a little awkward with the spine hump and trigger like hump on the bottom of the tang. That being said, they were all superior choppers when you choked back on the blade thus giving you more leverage. If you have large hands and need a chopper, get a Rodent 9! A lot of people poo-pooed the grips, but I found the ergos to be much more comfortable than my Rat Mastiff in all 3 grip positions. Whatever you decide to go with, let us know and post some pictures!

Snowbrdr. Thanks I have extra large hands. The Rodent 9. Is on my short list. While I haven't had the pleasure of handling one the handle ergo's remind me of the Kukri and my Tad Lynch chopper.

The red carpet handles on the Scrapyard knives are interesting. My only concern with them is durability especially if one has to strike on them.

I just got through conveying the edge on my mini mojo. Now it's really screaming sharp!
