During my walk today I noticed that the Salmonberries were starting to appear, I love these and so does Maisy:

I also came across lots of Miners Lettuce, great stuff to munch on as ya walking:

I don't come across these too often but I believe it's a Morel:

This was a bit of a mystery, what looks like a chicken egg in the middle of the forest ?

I sat and whittled with my JK Hiker while the dogs were sniffing around:

This is why I love Cedar roots so much for cordage, they are so flexible that you can easily plait them. On their own they are strong but plaited they can really take some weight !

I think these Cedar bangles will really catch on !!!:D

Cool pics man. Mears called the roots woodsmans wire and I can see why, they seem incredibly strong.

That mushroom is indeed a morel. More commonly referred to in Kentucky as "hickory chickens".

You have probably come across them more often than you know. They are usually hidden under a leaf or some other debris. The few times I've hunted them, you rarely see them growing in plain sight.

Cut them in half lengthwise, wash the dirt(and occasional bug) off in a bowl with cold water, dredge lightly in flour and pan fry them. Delicious!

Goose egg.Lots times ravens will steal them once empty they drop them wherever, and yep a morel very nice find need a few more for a feed though! We need to warm up and more snow to go before they show up here.Man does spring ever whip along down at the coast
Thanks

My dad eats them a lot. I always have to get out and find them the first time though. Otherwise he will tell me they aren't growing yet. :o

Awesome pics Pit. I was thinking goose or duck egg. The Mallards here lay eggs about that size. They make a pretty good breakfast too :)

Lovely pics :)
The goose eggs I've seen are a lot bigger than hen's eggs but they may be different over there :)

About the right size for a duck egg though.
