I don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but on the chance it isn't I thought I'd share. I recently traded for a LM Micra to replace my Vic Classic on my keychain, because the Micra has all the tools I need from a SAK or multi-tool, so now I don't have to carry my Farmer / Soldier in addition to a Spyderco. The neat thing about using the blade on the Micra is that you can leave the handle open so it's possible to get a four finger grip on a keychain sized knife. Not the best grip in the world with how thin the handle is, but it beats the 2 finger pinch grip of the Classic. The downward curve of the blade end even makes things more ergonomic.

Ah, you have discovered the "stretch" position. It works well for a better grip on most smaller tools when using the knife/file/saw blades. You can also use the drivers in this position, it allows more reach and aligns the implement more in-line with the tool's axis, alieviating some of the multi-wobble.

Most butterfly opening tools work in this position but quite a few do not. The Gerber sliding plier models do not, nor does the SOG Powerlock (seen below compared to a Surge).

If the extension capability isn't common knowledge, it should be. That's why I prefer the Micra to other keychain sized tools, clipped to a micro light and carried in my jeans watch pocket. Whatever else I might be carrying on a given day, the Micra usually accompanies it. Great little tool.

I've been very happy with my upgrade. I actually like the extra bulk / weight because it makes it easier to tell if my keys are in my pocket, and like I said the Micra has everything I require from a multitool (Scissors, screwdrivers, cap lifter, small blade and tweezers). Used to be a pretty hardcore Victorinox guy, glad I gave this knife a chance.

I dunno about the Vic Classic, but on my Rambler, I use the cap lifter/Philips screwdriver to extend the grip for the knife.

Yep, that extension comes in handy - another use however that I find very handy for the sissor on the Micra is opening up King crab legs or Snow crab legs. It works slicker than any of the tools a fancy eatery provides - but you do need the "restroom" after to clean it or else smell "fishy" :jerkit: for the rest of the evening! I actually often carry both the Vic Classic and the micra - the classic on my keys and the micra by itself! It is a great product!

Thanks, znapschatz - my thoughts exactly (I love it when other guys save me the time of having to post my thoughts).
