Nebraska knifemakers?

Greetings. I live in Fremont, NE. I specialize in Scandi-style, fixed blade knives. I work primarily with 1095 and O1. I cut, cure and stabalize my own woods. I do all my own leather work.

If you would like to see examples, let me know.

Hopefully they will chim in.

I'm in Omaha, although I wouldn't call myself a knife maker quite yet. I've just began playing around with knife making, and still have a long way to go before I'm "there". ;-)

topher I used to live in Omaha. Most of my moms family lives there yet and so does my wifes. I moved back to Diller area 8 years ago this month.
I hope some more chim in.
Do you or corey know of a guy called cissco knives I think that is it. I seen some of his
stuff at the gun/knife show at south roads mall years ago and Dave told me he was at
the Fremont gun/knife show just a few weeks back.
Well take care all
Bryan

I grew up in Papillion, Left in 1960, joined Navy, been next to salt water ever since but always will be a Nebraskan. Took a 50 mile canoe trip on the Elkhorn and Platt river when I was 15 with two friends and a dog, still think about it.

Like Brian said I live in Diller which is half way between Beatrice and Fairbury. As far as others most of the ones I run with are all forging blades. Here's a list in no paticular order. Sid Suedmeier from Nebraska City also owner of Little Giant Power hammers and a true gentleman. Josh Mosier from Deschler makes some awesome damacus. Jim Glines from out in Grand Island. If your interested in a more complete list I can put one together. Using my personal info and Knives 2008. Oh we shouldn't forget the Tiensvold's from western Nebraska.

Hope this helps

Dave from Diller

hey Dave did you hear that Josh was in a car accident I heard it was a head on one?

Bryan

Yes, I did. I spoke with him on the 16th everyone was fine. Seatbelts and airbags all worked properly. They were just a little sore. At that point he was hoping to get a little more shop time before going to the Hastings Gun Show.

Dave from Diller

There is a show in February in Fremont. I believe it is the second weekend. This is the show I attend along with quite a few of the other makers. Last year there was seven makers from Nebraska in attendance. We are trying to get more all the time.

Hey Corey, I'm from Fremont as well. I'm searching for bushcraft communities as well as I'm interested in your knives. Thanks

Hey Corey, I see this thread was started quite a while back! I think I met Dave Sloan in 2008 or 09.. at the Fremont show. Sid allowed me to have room on his table there, and we all have been quite a bunch of friends ever since! I started making knives back in 2002, quite a humble beginning! Things have changed, I've been full time now almost 3 years now.. I don't know if my web site will show up, or you can see my facebook page. sharpdecisionknives.com works with both!

I just moved back to Omaha. Curious if any blade makers are still here? This might be the year I jump into knife making vs. knife buying :) If anyone locally provides knife making training classes, etc. I would love to hear about that as well. I'm most interested in making kitchen knives.
