Hey folks,
This is a little number I have ready for a Neck Knife Challenge in the W&SS subforum. The overall length was to be no more than 7". I decided to sacrifice a bit of blade length to gain some handle purchase. I stuck with simple lines.... nothing special... but I trust it will work well for the testers. The sheath is ambidextrous(the blade can be inserted either way and the sheath faces are tool to match aside from the rivet heads). The lanyard is fully adjustable to fit the neck or across the chest and under the arm.

Thanks for looking!
Rick

Oh man, I don't usually get caught with an involuntary coffee spew but that link got me good, brother.

Thanks

Oh man, I'll own a Marchand knife one day.

With wifey just starting grad school (again!) and going to 1/2 time work- won't be for a bit! :grumpy:

;):D

Thanks for sharing Rick. I really like the sheath... Makes me want to wear it like manly bling!

I really, really like that entire package! One question ...... Is there anything holding the knife in the sheath other than a snug fit?

Hey Mark... It is a bit more than a snug fit. The sheath is wet formed, wax dipped and baked at 150F for 1hr. A similar process was used to make armour at one time. It makes and audible "click" when the knife is inserted(the turk's head knot sits in a channel.). It is more like kydex than leather, now.

Thanks.
Rick

What kind of epoxy did you soak the hemp in? for how long?

Thanks! West Systems 105/207 Special Coating epoxy. I put it on thick and after it soaks in for about 25mins I wipe it down with a cloth. Then after it has set a bit more(3-4hrs) I rub/press it into the hemp even more to give it that satin (non-wet) look. Then it sits for 24hrs.

Thanks for the explaination. Cool idea to have the turk's head slide into a channeal/relief. Does sound "kydex" like, and very safe. Might have to give it a try. Also forgot to mention I like the cord over leather, gives you some room for contouring the handle. Neat package.
