neck knife laws in michigan

howdy, I was wondering what the restrictions and legalities of neck knives were here in michigan. also, I've been hearing conflicting stories about length restrictions on folders, any info on that would be appreciated as well. thanks in advance
 
Here are all the knife laws I could find relating to fixed blades in Michigan:

750.227. (1) A person shall not carry a dagger, dirk,
stiletto, a double-edged nonfolding stabbing instrument of
any length, or any dangerous weapon, except a hunting
knife adapted and carried as such, concealed on or about
his or her person, or whether concealed or otherwise in
any vehicle... except in his or her dwelling house [or]
place of business... (3) A person who violates this
section is guilty of a felony...

Basically it's illegal to carry a knife concealed, but I think as long as you have the lanyard attachead to the sheath of the knife it would be okay. I'd reccomend checking with your local PD.

thanks man, I have read that before and its about as cryptic as it comes. well, anyway the knife I'm looking at carrying is just a small hawkbill style neck-knife(along the lines of the la griffe)
 
I got this from a cop in Mi on glocktalk. Any length folder is legal. Dearborn banned all knives though, unless used in your line of work. A 6" blade folder will probably get you hassled by the man. But any length of folder is legal. 2" or less on fixed blade knives.<--not 100% sure on fixed length but almost positive. Not sure on carrying folder in sheath open. Probably get you hassled, but also probably technically legal.
 
thanks black, that puts me at ease a bit. still a little sketchy about my neck knife, but at least I know I can still carry my commander:)
 
That is good news! Ken..you see a guy walking around with a belt full of SOCOMs, and a CRKT Bear Claw around his neck..that'll be me. :D
 
can anyone confirm is fixed blade length may be 4 inches? ive heard both 3 and 4 but never heard 2 inches.

if i have it showing its not concealed but in my pocket it is right?

but if i put a cord on it and put it on my neck it becomes a neck knife. does it then have to be over your shirt or can it be under?
