Neck knife recommendations

Been thinking about purchasing a new neck knife. Looking for something that is somewhat discreet under a T-shirt, relatively inexpensive (about $80 max).

Was looking at the TDI Law Enforcement Knife, online the sheath seems a bit bulky, and not sure if this model is meant to be carried as a neck knife? Any other recommendations?

By the way purpose for this knife is strictly self-defense, 0% utility.

Thanks

A neck knife for s/d may not be the best solution if you have to draw it in a hurry. I'd say belt carry is quicker. You know exactly where it is since it doesn't shift around.

There are quite a few that are highly regarded neck knives. ESEE Izula, Eskabar, Becker Necker, Blackjack neck knife.

Way out of your price range...but well worth it. Yes, it is purpose designed/built. CRK Professional Soldier.

^Are any of those knives specifically geared towards self defense or utility?

No they're not specifically geared for self defense, but you won't find many in that price range that are (that are still decent quality).

EDIT: I forgot the Spyderco Swick 2, which was designed for s/d. They're discontinued I think, so you may have to track one down. BUT, it's my understanding that the Swick 3 is in the works.

I'm ashamed that I forgot about Dirk Pinkerton's line of neckers. All of them are designed for s/d first and foremost. He's got a few in your price range.

Any comments on the KA-BAR law enforcement knife?

is the sheath for the kabar as bulky and big as it looks online? and im starting to like the izula...

Get the Izula. I have a black paracord wrapped original and an orange Izula II with the micarta scales. I've worn both, original has a slightly shorter handle and lays flatter with the paracord. ESEE is coming out with a stainless Izula soon as well.

I can make you a full on custom neck knife of your design for under $100. I love to make nasty weapons.

I can't imagine any neck knife being a solid SD knife just based on the probability of a cutting yourself on deployment. But, the Emerson/Perrin La Griffe is one heck of a solid knife

BK14

BK11 ---if you drink a lot of non-twist-off beverages

CS SafeMaker series.

You could buy almost 2 of each with your max price.

And they really are nasty. I have a CIA Zipper Pull from him that I save for those special occasions when I'm really concerned about where I'm going.

Personally, I think your slapper is nastier ;)

where can i find any of these? the only one i can find online is the Meyerco Dirk Pinkerton Variable BroadHead Dagger and thats only one i don't really like.

Cotton,

I own the Ka Bar TDI and I do not believe that it is meant to be worn around the neck. It is more of a belt knife. I do not own the Becker BK11 or 14 but from what I have seen and read it looks like it might do a good job.

Contact Dirk and tell him what you want. Some of those designs you see were prototypes and evolutions of his existing designs to garner feedback. 614-746-9380 Give him a call and tell him what you want. He'll work with you.
