Neck knife with bottle opener?

..a currently available one (not the becker)

I know about the CRKT dogfish, but don't particularly care for the blade shape, i'd prefer something of a recurve or drop point or mostly anything with some curvature on the edge.

I'd prefer production knives, especially if they come in at a reasonable price, i'd also prefer that it come with a kydex or similar sheath for neck carry, suspended handle down.

if production knives dont offer this, what custom manufacturers might i want to consider, given a somewhat limited budget?

Thanks for the help.

You can try some of the makers here on BF. I have a wharncliffe necker with a bottle opener from BARKER. It's been my EDC since I got it not too long ago. John does awesome work, has fair prices, and is great to work with. He is a king of recurves. I'm sure he can whip something up for ya.

You could easily add a bottle opener on most any knife with some work, you could either do the wave style or oval style if you have a skeleton handle.

butcher blocks knives look very nice, but for a neck, i think i'd prefer something a little thinner in the handle, I managed to find some of "barker's" work, and think his designs are more allong the lines of what i'm looking for.
any more suggestions?

Do you have a link to any of Barker's work? I'm curious now!

not a bad looking little knife, though full serrations aren't my favorite thing. How hard is it to apply adequate torque to pop off a top?

maybe something like this integrated into the handle, as to use the leverage of the length of the knife?
either that or the style used on the becker/crkt.

You could also just practice opening a bottle with any rigid item. That would open up the world of possible candidates for bottle opening knives. Anything with an exposed bit of tang at the end - or a skeleton knife would work.

How to do it:
1. Grasp the bottle firmly in left hand, with index finger directly below bottle cap

2. wedge rigid item between bottle cap and index finger - positioning just before your first knuckle (the knuckle on your handle) - rigid item should be pointing upwards at 45 degree angle

3. Lever rigid item down, using finger as a fulcrum, popping cap off.

Do this 20 times (24?) and it will become natural. You;ll be able to use screwdrivers, forks, lighters, rocks, wadded up paper, the back of an axe head, a brick . . virtually anything. When I need to open a bottle and there's a screwdriver 2 feet away and a bottle opener 10 feet away, I'll just reach for the screwdriver because it's just as easy to use.

Becker "Necker" BK 11 :D

yes, that would be my first choice.
however, note the first line in my original post.
they seem to be sold out essentially everywhere, since they're out of production.
my email is enabled if you know something i dont ;)

Brewthunda, good point. a bottle opening knife would still be fun though!
